Project Sheila is one woman’s answer to the question what can I do?
It was founded in June 2017 by Eliza Cussen, a digital strategist and former Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. What started as an idea to help the new wave of female candidates is a now a social enterprise designed to help thousands.
At its heart, Project Sheila is a tool for collaboration. It links up candidates with emerging feminist developers, designers, and web producers. Candidates and consultants work one-on-one to create a beautiful campaign website that helps raise money, recruit supporters, and change the world.
Project Sheila works on a sliding scale. If a candidate is approved into the program, her campaign is charged a production fee starting at $0 and going up to around $800. We want to help as many people as we can while ensuring the time and expertise of our consultants is rewarded.
Who is Sheila?
Our founder, Eliza, is from Australia and ‘Sheila’ is Australian slang for woman (i.e. “she’s a bloody fine sheila”). Government in the United States needs more sheilas.
